We welcome all to The Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Philadelphia’s historic Germantown neighborhood. Open daily for prayer, Mass, and reflection, the Basilica Shrine offers peaceful gardens and a rosary walk, a Marian art museum, a gift shop. Or take part in Beyond Sunday® opportunities, including pilgrimages, retreats, tours, and spiritual programs for all ages.

Parking

A secure parking lot is available for all guests at Magnolia Street and Chelten Avenue. Buses are welcome.

Public Transportation

the Basilica Shrine is easily accessible by Philadelphia public transit:

  • Train: Suburban or Chestnut Hill East line from the Jefferson stop in Center City to Chelten Avenue/Germantown. Exit the station, turn left, and walk 3 blocks to the Basilica Shrine.
  • Bus: Routes #26 and K go directly from the station to the Basilica Shrine.

As part of our Beyond Sunday programs, the Basilica Shrine offers pilgrimages and retreats for youth, adults, educators, and groups of all sizes, tailored to your specific needs. Whether you’re arranging a school trip, a parish retreat, or a guided tour, our programs are interactive, engaging, and dedicated to helping participants deepen and strengthen their faith, and connect more fully with the teachings of the Catholic Church.

St. Vincent's Rosary Walk

St. Vincent’s Rosary Walk and gardens at the Basilica Shrine of  Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal are open for everyone to enjoy, offering a peaceful space for prayer, reflection, and connection. Marian statues, colorful gardens, a meditation garden, a children’s garden, and the Shrine to Our Lady of Knock and Our Lady of Kibeho shrines provide a glorious setting for your spiritual journey. This tranquil outdoor space also supports retreats and spiritual programs for visitors of all ages.

Art Museum

Our Fr. Joseph Skelly, CM, Marian-Christo Art Museum contains contains more than 400 pieces of magnificent Marian and religious art, ranging in date, technique, origin, and subject.

One of the largest collections of Marian artwork in one location, the art museum at The Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal is an essential pilgrimage for those who treasure stunning sacred artwork.

Visit the museum Monday-Friday between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. or arrange for a private tour for groups of 15 or more on other days of the week.

Cultural Shrines: The Many Faces of Mary

While Mary was thoroughly Jewish, cultures around the world have portrayed her through their own traditions and appearances.

The Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal celebrates the people, cultures, and devotions that make up the tapestry of our Catholic faith. Visitors can experience cultural shrines honoring Our Lady of Kibeho, Our Lady of Knock, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Our Lady of Vailankanni, Our Lady of La Leche, and Our Lady of FIAT, each reflecting a unique story of faith.
