Abp. Perez Visits Shrine
On Monday, February 22, The Miraculous Medal Shrine hosted a visit from Archbishop Nelson Pérez. Prior to celebrating Mass, Archbishop Pérez knelt prayerfully at Our Lady’s altar.
Monsignor John Savinski was Master of Ceremonies. Concelebrating the Mass with Archbishop Pérez were Fr. Stephen M. Grozio, CM, Provincial of the Vincentians of the Eastern Province; Fr. Michael J. Carroll, CM, Director of the Miraculous Medal Shrine; and Fr. Timothy Lyons, CM, Assistant Superior at St. Vincent’s Seminary in Germantown. Deacon James Mahoney, Paulette Mican and Jerry Reedy assisted, and Frank Carney and Ed Hearn were altar servers.
Archbishop Pérez offered a homily reflecting on the feast of the Chair of St. Peter and its connection to the mission of the Miraculous Medal Shrine.
“How many hundreds of thousands of people say those Novena prayers every day? They are represented today by us, here,” said Archbishop Pérez. “Here at this Shrine the Mother takes care of business and intercedes for us and for all who are connected through this incredible devotion, all at the end rooted in the central mystery of the confession of Peter, whose chair we venerate today, our confession that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, is the Anointed One, is the Son of God.”
