As summer arrives at The Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, the spirit of our community continues to thrive and shine brightly in every shrine, candle, and shared moment of prayer. From peaceful mornings on the lush grounds to indoor, joyful celebrations of faith, the season invites us to reconnect and grow together in devotion and gratitude. We are delighted to welcome you to a summer filled with worship, reflection, community, and Marian devotion.
Mary, under the title of the Immaculate Conception, has served as the patroness of the United States since 1846. As patroness, the nation is entrusted to Our Lady’s care, intercession, and protection.
This summer, we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America through our Summer Novena of Hope themed The United States of Mary. The Novena takes place each Monday from July 6 through August 31. For people who are unable to join us in person, we will offer the 12:05 p.m. (ET) Mass on livestream, so you can still take part.
Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
We welcome you to join us, Friday, June 12, for the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Holy Mass at 12:05 p.m. After Mass, in honor of our country’s anniversary, will be Benediction and an Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary
On Saturday, June 13, we will honor the Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary at 12:05 p.m. Mass at the Basilica Shrine, and we invite to gather with us. The Miraculous Medal Novena will be prayed before Mass.
Solemnity of Ss. Peter and Paul
Please gather with the Basilica Shrine community as we commemorate Ss. Peter and Paul at all Masses and services on Monday, June 29. A plenary indulgence will be granted under the usual circumstances to those attending.
Independence Day Mass
On July 4, celebrate our country’s 250th anniversary at the Basilica Shrine! We invite you to join us at 8:45 a.m. to sing patriotic songs before the 9 a.m. Mass begins. Following Mass, the Basilica Shrine will close for the day.
Our Lady of FIAT
We unite to celebrate Our Lady of FIAT (Filipinos in America Today), with Most Reverend Efren V. Esmilla, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, presiding over Holy Mass following the Perpetual Novena at 12:05 p.m, on Monday, July 13. We hope you will join us for this special day.
First Apparition of Mary to St. Catherine Labouré
On July 18, 1830, Our Lady appeared before St. Catherine Labouré for the first time in a series of apparitions, which resulted in the Miraculous Medal. We excitedly await your attendance the 12:05 p.m. Mass on Saturday, July 18, as we commemorate and give thanks for this momentous day in our history. The Miraculous Medal Novena will be prayed before Mass.
Anointing of the Sick Mass
Our third quarterly Anointing of the Sick Mass will take place at the Basilica Shrine on Monday, July 20, at the 12:05 p.m. Holy Mass.
We warmly welcome all who need physical comfort, or spiritual strength, peace, and courage to those facing the challenges of illness or aging.
Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
On Saturday, August 15, following the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Mass at 12:05 p.m., we will process along St. Vincent’s Rosary Walk and among our outdoor shrines as we honor Our Lady in her many titles. A plenary indulgence will be granted under the usual circumstances to those attending.
Our Lady of Vailankanni
Now in the 15th year, the Our Lady of Vailankanni celebration, taking place on Saturday, September 12, includes Holy Mass; praying the Miraculous Medal Novena, Our Lady of Good Health Novena, and the Rosary in various languages; and Procession with Our Lady of Good Health Statue.
Holy Mass with Bishop Esmilla
We are pleased to welcome Most Reverend Efren V. Esmilla, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, on Monday, June 15; Monday, July 13; Monday, August 10; and Monday, September 14, as he celebrates our Perpetual Novena and Holy Mass at the 12:05 p.m. Masses.
Bishop Esmilla’s warmth and joyful spirit enrich our Basilica Shrine community each month, and we are very thankful that he takes time to preside over Holy Mass.
Divine Mercy Chaplet
We welcome you to join us for Praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet each first Friday of the Month, following 12:05 p.m. Mass. The summer dates are Friday, June 5; Friday, July 3; Friday, August 7; and Friday, September 4.
