Shrine TransitionTrish Shea
For the past three years, Fr. Michael Carroll, CM, has served as the Shrine’s director and the Central Association of the Miraculous Medal’s (CAMM) spiritual director.
During his tenure, Fr. Carroll worked collaboratively with Shrine and CAMM staff. Among his proudest accomplishments, Fr. Carroll prioritized keeping the Monday Perpetual Novena uninterrupted during the pandemic. From March 9 (the initial closing of the Shrine for public attendance due to COVID restrictions) until June 15, Fr. Carroll orchestrated the continuous praying and broadcasting of the Novena. Initially, one of the priests used his cell phone to livestream the Novena being held in St. Vincent’s Seminary’s Community Chapel.
In September, Fr. Carroll transferred to Niagara University, where he assists in Sacramental Ministry and serves as director of Our Lady of Angels Association.
Fr. Timothy Lyons, CM, is now serving as the new Director of the Shrine and Spiritual Director of the Central Association of the Miraculous Medal.
In recent years, Fr. Lyons been involved in the life and ministry at the Shrine. He is elated to becoming more involved in the ministry and events the Shrine community enjoys.
“Now at a deeper level, the awesome opportunity that I see is the possibility of helping the whole church deepen its relationship to our Blessed Mother,” says Fr. Lyons. “I tell people I’m thrilled with my new job; I have been waiting for this job for the last 35 years even though I didn’t know it.”
We wish both priests good luck in their new assignments.
